Words split and hyphenated
at the end of a line
Every effort has been made to avoid split, and thus hyphenated, words at the end of lines of text. The hyphen appears only in instances where two words might normally have been linked by a hyphen, even in the middle of a line, as in 'Arabic-speaking', or where the full word can be readily split into two other complete words, as in 'every-thing'. Some words, however, appear to be unnecessarily hyphenated. A complete list is given in an appendix, [Words split and hyphenated at the end of a line].
