University of Oxford -
Examination Schools

The gates of doom - or so they must appear to undergraduates - for these are the doors of the Examination Schools in High Street, where undergraduates would go for the final reckoning of their years of study. At least TEL might have felt at home in the building, since its architect was T G Jackson, who had designed the City of Oxford High School for Boys. In the summer of 1910 TEL sat his finals, and for the brilliance of his thesis and his examination work he was awarded First Class Honours in Modern History.
